Sony Ericsson XPERIA is expected with Android 2.0

Another Android smartphone is leaked, but unfortunately we can’t say that it is going to start its sales any time soon. This time it’s Sony Ericsson who fancy Android for its top range mobile phone, for next XPERIA division model to be precise. Parallels with HTC Hero here are possible, of course, but I fear they would be untimely because Rachel, so is its codename, sports some interesting features that make it stand out a bit.

There is not much to say about the next Sony Ericsson XPERIA, but we already know that it might whop Hero’s nose. First of all, SE is preparing an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus. Nothing with more humble pixel density was expected for the XPERIA because guys at Sony Ericsson were always taken up with cameras. Which probably explains an over 12 megapixel phone from them by the end of the year.

Now, there is more. HTC Hero comes with 528MHz processor. The XPERIA in turn is expected to be fitted with a latest 1GHz processor. That of course would make a difference no matter what the phone will be used for.

The last thing so far is the OS. SE Rachel is rumored to be one of the first devices out there with Android 2.0. This fact arises questions like whether it will have something at least remotely like Sense UI? Or one which is even more actual: how long to wait for it? All we know is that Android 2.0 comes in autumn, hopefully Rachel also.Source

We love cakes here at Geeky Gadgets, especially geeky ones, and have featured quite a few different ones in the past, the latest one is definitely one of the coolest we have seen so far, the Sony PSP Cake.

Sony's Playstation 4

You read it here first, folks! The Playstation 4 (aka PS4), Sony's upcoming game console, will bring along the next generation of video game systems with enhanced view and sensors for better gaming experiences. The graphics and processing power will of course be unprecedented, as we've come to expect with Sony's Playstation brand. The gameplay itself is also sure to be revolutionary. Sony has recently released some information about the PS4 and how it will work.

As you can see, Sony has unveiled a new look for it's latest Playstation, ditching the shiny black veneer of the previous model and opting for a more neutral grey/white color. This new look is quite stunning to be honest - it retains the style and sleekness of the PS3 design and still looks incredibly high tech, but the lighter shade is sure to attract some more casual gamers, a demographic that Sony will sorely need to cater to in order to succeed, as has been witnessed by the Playstation 3's current situation as the least successful video game console on the market, way behind the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. Clearly Sony has learned their lesson that they will need to chase a more mainstream, casual audience with their new Playstation 4.

It has also been announced that Sony will take another cue from the Wii and pursue motion-sensing controls much more seriously than it did with it's last generation machine. Rumor has it that Sony's new controller will take motion-sensing controllers to a whole new level - Early indicators suggest that the Playstation 4 will use a glove-like device that the user will wear, along with a motion-sensing force field, vest, remote, helmet, and standard controller combined to create a totally immersive gaming experience with as few buttons as possible.

The i-Station T43

Running on Linux 2.6, the latest offering from Digital Cube is the T43 i-Station, successor to the V43 released last year. There's a 4.3" TFT screen that displays all the popular formats -- DivX, xVid, MPEG, and WMV. Aditionally, a USB 2.0 port is built right into the player, allowing for immediate transfer from flash drives and other USB devices. With 64 MB of DDR RAM and up to 30 GB of storage space, it's not a bad little gadget.

Futuristic Prototype Apple Tablet

Just when you think that everyone’s forgotten about the Apple tablet, here it comes again, smacking us right in the head with novelty. This time, we’re dealing with a prototype of the device, or better said some very cool photo manipulation and render, done by Lucas Rosa. This “miniature laptop in tablet form” is some sort of hybrid between Microsoft Courier and a WACOM tablet.

Nintendo DS was also used as an inspiration for the device, that supports gestures, like flipping virtual pages. Also, you should know that the iSlate or Netslate (would be names for the concept) measures about 14 x 21 cm and comes with two foldable parts, connected by a flexible hinge. The tablet uses the iPhone’s OS with some features taken from the desktop Mac OS X. Pinching gesture is also supported, plus annotations, additional layers of information and even gaming, with virtual controls on screen. The display on this tablet concept is an AMOLED, thin and energy saving, while the memory is all SSD. USB and FireWire are not included, but WiFi and Bluetooth are, as well as induction charging.
